This policy explains how Lionhouse Creative Limited (“LIONHOUSE”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data when you visit lionhouse.com, contact us, subscribe to our emails, apply for a job or work with us.
Who we are
Lionhouse Creative Limited is the data controller for your personal data. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 08538340. You can write to us at 4 Rivers Street Place, Julian Road, Bath BA1 2RS, email [email protected] or call +44 (0)1225 445 427.
What we collect and why
When you get in touch. If you use our contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, company and message so we can reply and talk about your project. We do this in our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or to take steps towards a contract with you.
Our newsletter. If you subscribe, we use your email address to send our newsletter and updates, and we record whether emails are opened and links clicked. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
Website analytics. With your consent, given through our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are viewed, what kind of device you use and your approximate location, so we can improve the site.
Keeping the site secure. Our hosting and security tools process your IP address, browser and request data to protect the site and block attacks. This is in our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe.
Comments. If you comment on our journal, we publish your name and comment, keep your email address and check comments for spam, in our legitimate interest in running the journal.
Job applications. If you apply for a role, we use your CV, contact details and application to assess you. This is in our legitimate interest in recruiting, and becomes a step towards a contract if we make you an offer.
Working with us. If you’re a client, we keep your contact and billing details to deliver our services, invoice you and keep proper records. We do this under our contract with you and to meet our legal obligations on tax and accounting.
You don’t have to give us personal data, but if you don’t we may not be able to reply to you or consider your application.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We use a small number of trusted suppliers who process it on our behalf under written contracts.
Our website is hosted in the UK by ProStack. We send our newsletter through Campaign Monitor, which may process data in Australia and the USA. Google provides our website analytics, through Google Analytics and Site Kit, and our business email through Google Workspace, and may process data in the UK, EU and USA. Cloudflare protects and speeds up the site across its global network, Wordfence (Defiant Inc.) runs our website firewall, and Akismet (Automattic) filters comment spam; each of these may process data in the USA.
We may also share data with our professional advisers, such as our accountants, or where the law requires it.
International transfers
Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so your data has equivalent protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and contact form submissions for two years from our last contact, unless you become a client. Client records and invoices are kept for six years after the end of the financial year, as tax law requires. Job applications are kept for six months after the role is filled, unless you agree to us keeping them longer.
Newsletter subscribers are removed as soon as they unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, and security logs for up to 90 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected if it’s wrong, have it erased, or restrict how we use it. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
You can also ask for your data in a portable format, and withdraw your consent whenever you like, for example by unsubscribing or changing your cookie settings. We don’t make any decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll respond within one month, and there’s normally no charge.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
We use HTTPS across the site, a web application firewall, access controls and encrypted email to protect your data. If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we’ll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Changes
We’ll update this page if the way we use personal data changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
